The service of Christian marriage is a joyous occasion and one of the most significant rites that a United Methodist minister conducts. The
clergy and staff at FUMC Bossier will assist in making your wedding a memorable and meaningful service and a celebration of the life you begin together as a couple.
Scheduling
- Contact Sherry Herbst – sherbst@fumcbossier.org – to check available dates or schedule a wedding.
- After the date has been confirmed you will be connected with one of our clergy to make more arrangements.
Weddings for members may be scheduled up to one year in advance. For the purpose of this policy, “member” applies to one getting married or the parents or grandparents of one getting married. “Member” status also requires membership at FUMC Bossier for a minimum of six months at the time of scheduling.
Non-member weddings can be scheduled, at most, six months prior to the ceremony.
No weddings or rehearsals may be scheduled on holiday weeks or on Sundays.
Ceremony Locations
- The Sanctuary accommodates up to 400 and has a center aisle, organ, grand piano and other misc instruments.
- The Fellowship Hall accommodates up to 175 in various seating and has a keyboard.
Officiating MInister
Members of the clergy staff of First United Methodist Church Bossier City or other United Methodist clergy shall officiate at all weddings. If a relative or close friend is an ordained minister of another denomination or faith, he or she may participate in the service with the approval of the senior pastor.
Marriage Counseling
Pre-marriage counseling is a requirement of all who wish to be married at FUMC Bossier. Couples planning to be married should discuss their arrangements for pre-marriage counseling with the clergy person officiating at their wedding. Such pre-marriage counseling must be completed before the wedding date.
